My trip to Colorado
The title is in honor of Scrubs :) Just because I like Scrubs. So yes, Friday night to Monday night I was in Colorado visiting the Wilczak in Denver along with Lillo. We stayed at Wilzcak's huuuge house with her 7 roommates, and just hung out and had some good quality Sarah time. We went to Boulder for an afternoon and went on a little hike at the flat irons - and almost died on the uphill climb, though hopefully that was more from the drastic sea-level to mile-high altitude change and not a sign of my out of shapeness. Then we did a little shopping on Pearl Street and I have come to realize why Myra has always been in such favor of the "rugged" look on guys - its because there everywhere in Boulder. I gotta say, lots of earthy-outdoorsy-good lookin'-in-a-mountainous-kind-of-way guys in that CO. And also quite a dearth of Asians in the area. I think I saw maybe...10 in all, including three adorable kids and their mom at the ice cream store. Just something you notice when you're coming from the Bay Area and then suddenly find yourself as quite the minority. OH yeah! and we also rode a see-saw that was the real thing at a random place on the outskirts of Boulder. They were really tall and almost impossible to get onto, but super fun and kind of scary. Pictures to come later.
Saturday night we went out with a bunch of people in W's program to a bar in downtown Denver and had a lot of fun dancing and fending off sketchy guys. It was kind of sucky to have to relive the smoking indoors suffering in the bar and having my clothes reek of smoke, but at least it was only for a night. I hate smelling like smoke. Sunday we went to church, chased the ice cream truck through the city park, went to costco, got some Peaberry's coffee, and watched the Oscars. I thought Jon Stewart was great as usual, and go Ang Lee for being the first Asian Best Director winner.
Monday we roamed downtown Denver and walked all around in the gorgeous weather - it was in the 60's the whole time I was there! - and then dinner with all of W's roommates and then airport time. I arrived back in San Jose at 11:00 and was super tired on Tuesday, but I love seeing my friends and having fun, and its a short week at work for me now, wahoo.
So in conclusion, the mountains were beautiful, W lives mere blocks from Coors field, and the landscape was pretty much brown, so that means that the next time I go, its gonna be during baseball season!! And Myra you better be there.
So no more Dancing with the Stars...but now I think I'm going to start watching The Amazing Race...much less cheese factor, but its a race! its exciting.
