Today during the bimonthly meeting I take minutes at, my boss reminded me that I started this job exactly one year ago today. One year already! Its definitely one of those things where it feels like I just started but at the same time it feels like I've been here forever. A year spent in admin-land, taking messages, making copies, taking minutes, compiling contact lists, and pouring over contracts and leases. Not exactly my dream job, but I think overall I've have it pretty good here. My bosses are all nice and not demanding, I've gained some insight into how a non profit runs and made some great connections, and I've been able to save some (not a lot) of money, though that mainly is thanks to living rent-free at home. And I finally started to meet more people my age and make some friends at work in the last couple of months. Now it looks like I'm going to be here for another half a year, and then its bye bye U.S., hello Seoul! I'm excited for that chapter of my life to start, but there's a lotta stuff I have to do before then...
Today I got an "easy" button. You know, like the ones in the Staples commercials. I press it and suddenly all the work on my desk is done! No, actually I press it and it says "That was easy." My boss gave it to all the Program directors and me as a present - it was cute, she had us all open the box at the same time and we all had a good laugh. Then we ate Vietnamese sandwiches. yummy!! I've also eaten a lot of good Asian food since I started working here.
I can't believe Christmas is in less than a week. I have a lot of shopping to do. eeek!
