Did I Jinx it?

RIP Taurus. After all that it suffered, it couldn't give me another two months and it died on Sunday March 10, 2007. Hannah was driving it back from church with Mom, and while they were stopped at the intersection of Homestead and Wolfe, it just gave out. They were litereally 3 blocks away from home. No coaxing of the gas pedal could get it to start again, so Hannah and Mom were stuck at the intersection with nowhere to go. Also, they soon learned that the left turn signal was out, which made the hazard lights pretty much useless and the drivers around them ma-aaad!

Of course I wasn't there when all this happened, but according to Hannah, a police car drove up and was able to push the Taurus with his car across the intersection and into the gas station that was on the corner. Not too long after that, a AAA tow truck showed up and towed the Taurus the whole three blocks back to our house. My Dad was able to get it started the next day and move it into our side driveway spot, but apparently thats going to be its last resting place before it moves onto car heaven. Basically, there's some kind of leak in some kind of gasket or something, and it would probably cost more to fix it than its worth. May parents made the executive decision to give the car away. So now I'm driving my Dad's beat up Corolla to work and occasionally find myself stranded at home.

The Taurus was a good car. It just didn't have the strength for those two more months I needed, or even those three extra blocks til it got home. I'm kind of sad I didn't get to drive it one last time before it died, one last joy ride with the windows rolled down and the radio blasting, just like high school. Maybe I'll risk the leakage and take it for a spin around the block...
