So I've had my Mac for almost a week now and I've been alternately delighted and frustrated by my shiny new computer. I wouldn't exactly call my transition from PC to MAC smooth, but I'm hoping that it will all be worth it.
Things I'm loving:
- Phil and Jo came up from LA this past weekend and my whole family had way too much fun playing with the camera and the funny distorted pictures we kept taking. I'll have to try to remember to post some of them. Way too much fun.
- That Dashboard is pretty spiffy. All the widgets and the cool visual effect when it flys in and flys off the screen? I was very impressed
- F9 and F11! Hot corners! Press F9 and all your open windows will line up on the screen. F11 and they all fly off the screen to the sides! Very useful when you're working on a lot of things at once.
- The screen is nice and the computer is compact but not too small.
Things I'm not loving:
- My computer seems to have some troubles with my thumb drive. Sometimes it doesn't want to eject it and it froze my computer a couple of times while I was trying to transfer and open some files. grrr
- The menu for all the windows are not on the windows themselves, but always at the top of the computer.
- Having to reorganize all my pictures in iphoto
Things I have to get used to:
- Switching from the "Ctrl" button to the Apple button - its not in the same place and its a little awkward.
- No right click button! Its either "Ctrl"-click or look in the main menu now.
- All the different ways to change settings and other things like that.
I'm hoping with time will come more appreciation and more tricks and shorcuts I can learn. I still haven't put on all my music, which is going to be a huge project. I think this weekend I'm going to go buy a pretty laptop case.
