Buckle up, Suckas

Work work work worky work work! Yup, definitely earning those $7 extra dollars on my paycheck. That's right, the raise brought me a total of $7 more on my bi-monthly paychecks, after taxes and my 403b. Ah well - its the thought that counts? So last week was kind of a crazy week because of the MLK holiday and finishing up random stuff I didn't get to before the holidays, so sorry about the lack of postings. But its okay, not much has been going on in the life of me. I can't even remember anything that interesting from the last week besides that I spent the MLK holiday shopping at the Gilroy outlets with Sara K and Adria (I bought two pairs of shoes, very uncharacteristic), I'm almost completely caught up with the current season of Battlestar Galactica, and I bought tickets to see Snow Patrol/Ok go/Silversun Pickups in March (yay!). Thrilling, I know.

In more interesting/pretty sucky news, Hannah and I got in a car accident on Sunday on the way to church. Hannah was driving and I was in the passenger seat. It was a moderately big crash, but we're both okay so no need to worry. Hannah's car on the the other hand, is not so okay. Basically, we were going straight eastbound and a car trying to turn left out of a parking lot to go westbound didn't see us because of cars parked on the street/some kids on bikes on the sidewalk, and we crashed into the back left-side of the car as it turned. The car appeared so quickly that Hannah barely had time to slam on the brake, and I remember as soon as I saw the car I knew there was no avoiding hitting it. I think I closed my eyes and put my hands up as the collision happened, and then suddenly we stopped, the windshield in front of me was cracked like a spiderweb, and there were airbags in front of me and Hannah. We just sat there dazed for a second as literally, the smoke/powder from the airbags cleared, and I thought - Are you kidding me? Did this seriously just happen?

Since we were on local streets and were probably going no more than 35-40, the impact wasn't as bad as it could have been and me, Hannah, and the girl in the other car weren't hurt besides Hannah's rug burn from the airbag and some possible soreness today. I don't even think I made contact with my airbag thanks to my seat belt and because the passenger airbag came out from the dashboard, which is farther away. The bumper and hood of our car got fairly messed up, not sure how much damage it'll all end up being. The other car got some body damage on the left back side of the car and the left back wheel got dented in. So basically, both of our cars had to be towed and we were blocking one lane of the road while we waited for the police to come take a report. The funny thing was that we were on our way to church with a whole bunch of food in our car to make lunch for our church, so after the accident we just started running across the street, tranferring a crapload of groceries to my cousin and my Dad's car, who had both left from home less than five minutes after us. We probably looked pretty crazy.

I've never been in anthing larger than a fender bender so this was definitely different, but I'm just thankful that the damage was minimal and no one was hurt. Also that Hannah wasn't at fault, according to the nice police lady. Seriously, we were just driving straight. So in conclusion, all I gotta say is buckle up, suckas. Even in the backseat.
