Sharks Last Thursday I went to my first San Jose Sharks game, and despite the fact that the Sharks lost 4 - 2 to the Stars, I had fun. Before the game I had to go to a painless presentation on the Sharks organization and listen to two of the announcer dudes and the genereal manager speak and answer questions. I think it was for people who have gone to a couple of games or no games because they focused a lot on how to most enjoy watching the game - what to pay attention to, how you would maximize your experience watching the game on TV. But I got free food out of it, and two free tickets to the game so it was all A-OK with me. Unfortunately, Kamalski and I were out getting food at the beginning of the second period, and we missed the only real fight of the game. We saw a mini one later in the game, but it didn't seem nearly as exciting as the first one.
I've always thought that hockey looked like a lot of fun and the games are so exciting, and I've wanted to become a big fan - but I've just never gotten around to it. Also, professional hockey players seem much more humble and not like the greedy walking EGO's you see in other pro sports, especially football and basketball. They're missing teeth and are totally beaten up, but they're just like kids who really, really love the game and their teams, which I can appreciate. So maybe now that I've gotten a taste of going to a hockey game, I'll get myself out to more of them - I mean really, the stadium is like 15 minutes away from my house. Go Sharks!
The Superbowl I ate so much junkie food on Sunday it was kinda gross. A bunch of church friends gathered at Julia's apartment and we watched the game on her HDTV-ness. Man, that was some crazy rain. But it definitely made for a couple of very interesting double turnovers/ all around chaos. I'd say I would have been fine if either team had won, but I am happy that Peyton Manning can finally be left in peace about never winning the Superbowl. And Grossman was pretty pathetic - but since I have a good number of friends who are Bears fans thanks to my college years, I do have to sympathize for all those hopeful Bears fanatics out there. Better luck next year? Go 'Niners.
Korea Its official, I'm going to have a buddy when I go to Korea next year. Sarah L. accepted an offer to teach English at an international school in DaeJeon, about 1.5 hours away from Seoul. We're going to be travel buddies! Even though we won't be in the same city, its nice to know that I'll have a home friend close by. Now all I have to do is find a job!! Apparently, all my cousins that have young kids want me to privately tutor their kids in English. I have lots of second cousins in Korea...I could probably make just doing that my job!!
I haven't gotten anything done at work this week...
