Would you call me obsessed?

I prefer the word "passionate," but other people I won't name would definitely accuse me of having an obsession. An obsession with what, you ask? Now, if you knew me really well you'd probably have a good number of things to choose from to answer this question, because as I've been told before, I have what you'd call an obsessive personality. I admit it, when I like something, I realllllly like it. But my"passions" don't last forever, its not like I'm still obsessed with Leonardo DiCaprio (mid-8th grade to about mid-9th grade).

So the "obsession" I've recently been accused of having has existed with varying degrees over the last six or so years. Ever since I borrowed Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone from my best friend when I was 16 and I was at her house and picked up the book because I was bored and decided to see what all the fuss was about. That led to me borrowing the next two books and reading them in days, and then my first midnight release party for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

So yes, I love Harry Potter. I love the books, the characters, the movies, everything. I know plenty of people that love Harry Potter (many of which I introduced the books to- you gotta read the books first!), but my love seems to be on a different level. I've read all the books numerous times, seen the movies and own them, I've gone to get my books 4, 5, and 6 at midnight, I've seen each of the movies opening night with a select group of people I've "deemed worthy" of going with (judged on whether they've read the books, love the books, and if I like them), and I am a regular visitor at the HP fansite, www.mugglenet.com

Don't judge! I fully recognize that I am a nerd and have some problems, but I just love it. Just because I know the name of the first student to be sorted Harry's first year (Abbot, Hannah), and the house she was sorted into (Hufflepuff) does not mean that I am crazy. It just means that once when I was at my best friend's house (I think we can blame her as my enabler), we were playing some Harry Potter boardgame, and that was one of the questions, and because of my ability to retain useless trivia, I still remember it. Stop laughing, Kelly.

Anyways, the passion is currently in full force because of the impending release of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in theaters Nov 18th. Everytime a book or movie comes out, I get a little HP in the head. I'm a little sad this year because it'll be the first time I won't be at school when the movie comes out and I won't be able to see it with a lot of my NU HP crew. But I think my Bay Area HP crew will represent. I think I'll wear the Gryffindor scarf I'm knitting to the movie, because I am that cool.

CHICAGO TOMORROW!!! This day could not go any slower.

Currently listing to: Snow Patrol, Final Straw (love the song Chocolate), and RENT movie soundtrack (comes out Nov 23, another "passion"!!)
