In case you didn't know, being sick is not so fun. Last week at the beginning of the week I had a pretty bad cold that somehow turned into somekind of stomach virus midway through the week. I didn't go into work on Monday because of a bad cough and an all-around crappy feeling, though I did get my butt out of bed long enought to take a test in my Korean class. I went to work on Tuesday for the first half of the day, but then went home at noon to rest...and then on Tuesday night, I started getting the queasies and threw up my dinner, which was pretty much the first thing I had eaten all day. So along with the stuffy runny nose, intense cough, and headache, I felt nauseous and had to stay laying down in order to keep the urge to vomit away. So I stayed home on Wednesday too, and Thursday, and watched A LOT of TV. I watched a lot of Food Network shows, specifically Barefoot Contessa and Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee. I wanted to make all the things they were making, and also eat them. But once I saw Rachel Ray, I changed the channel because, dude, that lady is annoying.
My back hurt from laying down all day long, and I was actually wanting to get back to work, partly because I was sick of doing nothing all day, and partly because I knew I'd have a crapload of stuff to do when I got back. But at least my boss has been out on vacation for the last week and this week. Friday morning I slept in, and then went into work for the last half of the day to get some stuff done even though I still kinda felt like crap. I think my normal self finally came back someitme Friday evening. The cold was fading, and I could actually eat food without feeling nauseous and having to lay down right after, and keep it down. Its amazing how a week of sickness can totally throw you off - I lost weight because of the lack of food, and when I went to the gym on Sunday, oh man, that was rough. But I am bouncing back! I'm sure I'll gain that weight back in no time if I already haven't, and the muscles will return.
Couple of missed things from the last week:
- My parents birthdays! Momma Yu was on Halloween, and Daddy Yu was the day after - I baked a cake for them on Tuesday right before getting the stomach virus, so we didn't end up eating the semi stale cake until Friday night, but it was still good. And I make paella for them on Friday, yay.
- Went shopping in San Francisco on Saturday with Adria as we had planned weeks before, thank goodness I was feeling better by then. We went to the new Westfield mall in downtown with the H&M, Zara, Mango, and huge Bloomingdales, AND Beard Papas Cream Puffs! Too bad my Dad ate the last two cream puffs I brought home, one of which I had wanted to eat :(
- Had my first crochet class on Sunday, hehe. Still getting the hang of it, the second class is this coming Sunday. I think I'm going to go to a free workshop on knitting in the round so I can make hats on Saturday too. I'm becoming such a craft person, what is going on?
