gobble gobble
Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and mini-vacation, too bad its over though, eh? I almost cried when the alarm clock went off this morning and considered staying in bed and calling in sick, but momma's gotta bring home the bacon. My weekend started out on Wednesday when I got to work and only ended up staying for about an hour because there were maybe 4 people there working, and absolutely nothing for me to do. So I got to go home early and Secret, Hannah and I went to lunch with Phil and Jo, who had just driven up from L.A. YU.S.A.'s first Thanksgiving together, hollllaaaaaa!!! Wednesday night we watched RENT, which I thought was good, but not great - definitely had some high points, but also some low points as well ("Not a Girl, not yet a Woman" part). Watching it on stage is much better.
Thursday was the day of cooking, food, friends and family, and more food. I made the green bean casserole and the candied yams, and helped with various other dishes - all tasty, I must say. My preggie cousin and her husband drove up from L.A. on Thursday morning, and I had fun feeling her baby boy move around in her tummy - only one month left!
Thursday night/Friday morning I did some crazy nerd shopping, which deserves a whole blog entry on its own - to be described in detail tomorrow.
The rest of the weekend was filled with hanging out with the family, Sarah L., shopping, watching dvds, and some cleaning. I watched Walk the Line - which was kinda slow and long, but kept me interested despite the fact that I don't really know much about Johnny Cash. I think Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon both both did a good job, and I was impressed by their singing. Oh yeah, and on the way home from the movie theater, the cops had set up a DUI checkpoint and every car had to stop - it was kinda crazy. People shivering outside sitting on chairs, tow trucks, and lots of cops. The cop I talked to asked if we'd been at the movies - we probably weren't dressed like we had just come from the nearby bars - asked me how the movie was, and then let us go. craaazzzyy
box cutters = bad
today at work I almost got stabbed with a box cutter. Correction, I almost stabbed myself with a box cutter. I was opening a box of granola bars on my lap and I was cutting downwards but when I reached the end of the box my momentum kept going. The blade caught my jacket and made a clean cut about a half an inch long. The tip of the slanted blade also caught a little bit of my shirt and made a little hole. All cuts and holes are easily mendable, but I have to admit that was definitely one of my stupider moments. I seriously could have stabbed myself in the stomach - and that would have been bad. like the time I spilled boiling water on myself and got 2nd degree burns. Man I'm clumsy. I shouldn't be allowed to be around sharp objects.
