Memorial Day Weekend, Boston-Style

I arrived in Boston at 5:30 am on Saturday morning, aka 2:30 am my time, and the lovely rolled-out-of-bed Ishani picked me up at the airport and drove us to her half-house where she promptly got back into bed and I went to bed for a grand total of maybe 4 hours. But who needs sleep when they're on vacation, right!? Not me! Pictuuuures!!

Has it really been almost a year?? After a day of walking around Boston and a little shopping we ate out at Legal Seafood (yummy scallops) and had some Saturday night fun out in Cambridge with a random but fun group of NU peeps, boyfriends, co-workers, co-workers sisters from out of town, friends from home, and their friends from out of town. I love these girls. And limey mohitos.

Ryan, Myra, Ishani, and Dave. Look how happy they are! But I know they're sad now that their fifth wheel is gone...don't worry guys, you'll survive without me.

Check out this hottie...Sujanna, Sujanna!! *snap*snap* No wonder Eugene wanted to show you his snapping skillz Suki, so aweeesome. Boston is cool, but come back hooooome.

On Sunday, I had a marathon day of early morning church at the Cambridge Vineyard with Susanna (not the best idea coming off 4 hours of sleep and a semi-late night out), and then straight to the Northwestern vs. Dartmouth Women's NCAA Lacrosse Championship at BU. It just so happened that the Championship was being held at BU this weekend and since I'm a Wildcats Superfan, I decided that if NU made it to the finals I had to go to the game and support our awesome team. I'd been to three NU lacrosse games before, and this one was waaay slower and lower scoring than the other ones I went to, but pretty intense. There was a pretty big purple contingent there and I had fun chanting "Lets go Cats" and "Go U, NU". Susanna did a pretty good job of being an NU fan - props for sitting it out in the sun with me! As you can kind of see in the picture, the score was 7-4 NU with 39 seconds to go, yay for National Champs two years in a row!

After the lacrosse game Sue and I headed straight for Fenway a couple of T stops away, where Dave and Ishani were already waiting for us and we got there in the second innning. Fenway felt so small and intimate, kind of like Wrigley Field. It was fun, the Red Sox won despite doing all they could to lose by giving up four runs in the top of the ninth inning to the Devil Rays. But at least it made it more interesting for the true baseball fans who stay through the whole game! Oh, and the weather was amazing. I'm so glad we were in the shade.

I wore my J.T. Snow Giants shirt, of course. Unfortunatley J.T. didn't play and I didn't get a chance to see him. tear.

Susanna joined me in the Giants representin' and Ishani got her first Red Sox shirt and hat. I'm glad she didn't move to L.A.

On Monday we slept in and then Ishani, Myra and I did a little shopping and touring. I gorged myself on the tax-less H&M. Its kind of amazing, if I haven't been in awhile, I can spend two hours in H&M easily. After H&M we walked a part of the Freedom Trail through some very old and historic cemetaries, Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, by the water, and through the North side Little Italy area.

Ishani, Myra and me by the water. Side note - we walked A LOT. I'm totally out of the walking culture now - hello, I live in the Bay Area, public transporation sucks - so it was interesting. My legs hurt.

Me, Jane, and Susanna in Rockport. Monday night I said goodbye to Ishani and Myra (after Ishani's awesome homecooked dinner) and stayed at Susanna's apartment where Jane was staying as well. On Tuesday, we drove up to Richardson's Ice Cream, north of Boston, where I had an amazing large kid's scoop of homemade Moosetracks ice cream. It was delicious and random. Along with the homemade ice cream, they had batting cages and a golf range, and it smelled very strongly of cows. After the ice cream, we drove further north to Rockport, a cute little cape town with lots of little artist galleries and some yummy hot dogs and fried clam strips. Did you know that there are different hot dog buns they use in the New England area? They kind of look like a pice of sandwhich bread folded up. They intrigued me.

ANYWAYS. After all that, it was time for me to leave. Back on a plane for the long ass flight home, and then back to work for a three day week. Overall, had a good time, and loved seeing friends and the city. I'll be back.

phew!
